In plain English. From the guy who built it.
Here's the thing I wish I could say to every person who lands on our site for the first time.
You have probably been burned by a meat subscription company before. A surprise box of cuts you didn't choose. A monthly cadence you couldn't control. An auto-renewal you forgot about until it hit your card. A freezer full of stuff you didn't really want, stacked behind the stuff you did.
I know this because we hear about it from our members all the time. They tell us — sometimes before they've even joined — that they want to support independent American farms but they will not, under any circumstance, get locked into another box-of-the-month thing.
Fair enough. I wouldn't either.
So let me tell you what Valor Provisions actually is. In plain English. With no marketing fluff. I built this company. I'll explain it the way I'd explain it to my own family.
Table of Contents
Step 1. You join the farm membership.
$250 for life, or $99 a year if you'd rather start there. One-time fee for the lifetime option — that's not a typo and it's not a monthly anything. You pay it once and you're a member forever. We give every new lifetime member a free $100 sampler so you can taste what we carry before you spend another dollar.
Step 2. You shop the marketplace whenever you want.
Whenever, however much, however little. You browse, you fill your cart, you check out. Just like any other store. Members see member pricing on every cut. Free shipping on every order, forever. No minimum order. No required cadence. You can order today and not order again for six months. You can order weekly. It's your freezer, not mine.
Step 3. We ship it frozen from Kansas City in 48 hours.
Everything in our marketplace ships from our Kansas City facility, packed with dry ice, in under 48 hours. We ship to all 50 states. It arrives frozen, you stick it in the freezer, you cook it when you want. That's it.
That's the model. Nothing else is happening behind the scenes. No subscription. No mystery box. No subscription that pretends to be a one-time purchase. The membership is the membership, and the marketplace is the marketplace, and the only thing connecting them is your decision to buy something.
This is where it gets fun, because it's the part most people don't realize until they're in.
The Valor Provisions marketplace is a curated set of independent American farms and ranches. Today we have beef, pork, bison and poultry. Names you can look up. Real people with real operations in real states. Here are a few of them:
KC Cattle Company (Missouri) — that's my ranch. Veteran-owned American Wagyu. We started Valor here.
Mac's Farms (Missouri) — pasture-raised pork and heritage breeds.
David's Pasture (Missouri) — regenerative pasture-raised chicken.
Plainview Beef Co. (Kansas) — regenerative, pasture-raised, and grass-fed beef.
Campo Lindo Farm (Missouri) — free range poultry
Hightail Ranch (Montana) – Grass fed & finished bison
Across the farm partner network, we carry beef, pork, chicken, bison and a few other things depending on the season. Every farm is independent. Every farm is American. Every farm is named. You can look them up, you can read their stories, you can see what they do.
You shop whichever ones you want. Your cart can have Wagyu from KC Cattle, chicken from Campo Lindo, chicken from David's Pasture, and bison from Hightail. Or it can have one ribeye. Whatever works for your kitchen.
Yes. Here's the math, because I think it matters more than happy thoughts.
Member pricing on a typical Valor order runs 15-60% below comparable retail. On premium cuts — Wagyu, prime ribeye, pasture-raised anything — the gap can be larger because the retail markup at specialty grocery stores is enormous. Free shipping saves another $22 per order depending on order size. The free $100 sampler we send every new lifetime member covers a good chunk of the membership cost on day one.
If you order from us twice in your lifetime, the membership has paid for itself. After that, every order you place is pure savings vs. what you'd pay anywhere else for the same quality.
THE MEMBERSHIP IN ONE LINE
$250 once. Free $100 sampler. Better pricing on every order, for as long as you're alive. Pays for itself in roughly two orders. After that, you're saving.
Because I know this is the part people worry about, let me say it explicitly.
You will not be auto-billed every month. The lifetime membership is one charge. The annual is one charge per year. Neither is a meat subscription.
You will not receive a surprise box. We never ship you something you didn't order. There is no monthly mystery cut. There is no "curated selection" arriving at your door without your say-so.
You will not be locked into a cadence. Order once and never again. Order every Tuesday. Order three times in March and not again until October. Doesn't matter to us.
You will not be charged anything you didn't agree to. Membership is a clear, one-time transaction. Every marketplace order is a clear, one-time transaction. Nothing else happens.
You will not be passed off to a call center. If you have a question, you email a real person at Valor. Sometimes that real person is me.
If any of that ever changes, we'll tell you in advance and you'll have to opt in. We don't do silent upgrades, dark patterns, or terms-of-service revisions that change the deal on you. That's not how I want to run this company.
Honest answer: because my own family wouldn't have signed up for the other model. I wouldn't.
When my wife and I are buying food for our kids, we don't want a company deciding for us what shows up. We want to know what's in the freezer, where it came from, what it cost, and we want the ability to change our minds. Every other meat marketplace I looked at when I was building this took some version of that choice away from the customer.
So Valor doesn't. The membership unlocks better pricing and direct access to the farms we work with. After that, you're in charge.
If that sounds good to you. If it sounds like the deal a thoughtful person would actually want. That's the one we built.
Not ready yet? That's fine. You can browse the marketplace and see what we carry before you decide. The membership will be here when you're ready.
Either way, I appreciate you sticking with the emails this far. The next one is from me too, a few of our members in their own words. Real people, no scripts, no actors. I'll see you there.
