I think because it comes from the pork shoulder rather than the belly, the taste was somewhat unconventional (for me) for a traditional bacon and eggs breakfast. It's way leaner than traditional bacon and it was mildly smoked, so you don't get that oomph of smoked bacon taste that usually comes with bacon. It was superb, however, on a BLT we made for lunch. It's subtlety smoked and has thick pieces that played well with the Romaine lettuce and tomato.
The taste was very good, but the slices were cut way too thin. My bad though -- it did say shaved ham. I just didn't think it would be sliced so thin that I couldn't even pull the slices out of the bag one at a time. All I could do was pull out pieces of many slices to make enough for a sandwhich.
This is my favorite steak and it has never failed me. This is my second buying in bulk and got most of this cut.
Whenever I am able to buy these my husband goes crazy about them. So, I try to get them whenever I can.
They're sooooo good. Those are made by Plainview Beef Co 100% Grass Fed Beef and they use ZERO nitrates...all with natural fermentation. Enjoy!
I enjoyed this steak quit a bit. I like the creamy flavors of wagyu so this one had that flavor for me.
